Adding distilled water to a maintenance-free battery?

I recently punctured a sealed battery and repaired it. I notice there are two vents on the top of the battery, like small spouts one at each end, with their mouths in a horizontal plane. Has anyone successfully topped up one of these batteries, and if so how?
