Is it okay to take an alligator head in carry-on?

I bought a legal alligator head here in Florida, and Its only about 8 inches long. However, Its so fragile I would like to take it in carry-on as I am leaving today! But I didn't see anything listed against this type of item traveling with me on TSA's website. Just so I can make it through security without a worry, is it REALLY okay?
