Books about the journey of making aliyah before became nation?

Are there any books out there about the aliyah journey itself? Not about the journey it is today, but the journey it was before Israel became a nation. I would love to read what it was like to move away from your homeland into this totally new place, but yet it felt like your people's homeland. Or did it feel like your people's homeland? I want to read about the trials and triumphs these immigrants went through. Any fiction or non fiction books out there specifically about this?
