Car Hire in Greece and Credit Card?

We're trying to book a car to use while we're on holiday in Corfu in 6 weeks but every one we find is asking for credit card details so they can take the deposit (which I know we'd get back), but neither my husband nor myself has a credit card. Will the companys accept anything else? Or is there any other way we can do it?
