How much do snowboards usually go for?

i just started snowboarding and i used a 40 board. its kinda expensive for rentals n stuff so im wondering if i should buy a regular not too flashy snowboard. how much do they go for in general? and is it worth buying a new board in the long run if i go snowboarding like once every month or two months?
