Was anyone else who really enjoyed Resident Evil series disappointed with the departure from the standard?

set in 1,2,3 and code veronica going to an 'over the shoulder' camera and the gandanos not being as much fun to kill as zombies? I think Capcom dropped the ball here, but luckily enough made it up with Dead Rising.
